Company Profile
Niche is a privately owned New Zealand company that was formerly known as Law Staff. We have a team of more than 10 recruiting specialists, including qualified lawyers, who each have depth, experience and a wide network in their chosen market sector.
We have branches in Auckland and Wellington and our Christchurch office is due to reopen in 2012. We also operate through a well-established network of international alliance partners in Australia, Asia, the Middle East, the UK and Europe.
We are committed to best practice recruitment processes and, as a corporate member of the Recruitment & Consulting Services Association (RCSA), we abide by the Code of Professional Practice. As a member of the EEO Employers Group, we actively support diversity practices both internally and with our clients, including hiring based on merit, fairness at work, flexible working options and promotion based on talent.
Our clients include the top tier law firms, small and mid-sized legal practices, banks including Westpac and ANZ National, energy companies, government departments and many more.
Our vision is to make a positive impact in people’s lives as we help them to make important career and hiring decisions.
History
Law Staff was originally established in Sydney, Australia in March 1994 by Director, Paula Watts, and a business partner. Branches were then added in Auckland in 1995, Brisbane in 1999 and Melbourne and Wellington in 2001. In 2007, Law Staff New Zealand became a stand-alone entity.
We opened our Christchurch branch in 2009 in response to our South Island clients asking us for a permanent local presence. Unfortunately our office was closed due to the devastating earthquakes of September 2010 and February 2011 but we hope to reopen a satellite office in 2012.
Jane Temel and Kathryn Cross joined as Directors in 2010 and 2011 respectively, each bringing executive recruitment expertise which contributed to the broadening of Law Staff’s scope and the rebranding to Niche in October 2011.
